Well, it has begun. The pre-wedding festivities were kicked off by a beautiful shower thrown by Maggie's Aunt Jen, Aunt Erin, and her Grandma Lee. Friends and family came and showered Maggie with gifts. The pretty cupcakes, pastel macaroons, and the delicious chocolate pound cake were a few of the tantalizing food that they prepared for us. Beautiful flowers from Lee's garden along with a gift of succulents for the groom were a feast for the eyes.
Charm City- a perfect name for Baltimore. Maggie and Jake were keen to the idea of "the Charm City" being as much of a character in their engagement pictures as they were. Rawling Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, a place that Maggie had wanted to take Jake for a long time, was our first stop. There was a reason for this. Jake's love for plants, particularly succulents, and this was the place to see them in all their glory. This wasn't the last stop for plants. As you will see, there is a plant theme to our day. For a kid who hated gardening, he has developed a passion for plants, and that passion has rubbed off on Maggie. Their wedding colors were inspired by the colors of succulents.
Foodie stop next in Hampden, specifically for tots and tacos at the Golden West Cafe. Jake and Maggie had been telling us about this restaurant, and how it was designed and decorated with an awash of antlers. The food and decor- just charming;)
Boutiques and book stores were our next assignment, and Hampden didn't disappoint on this hot early summer day. Browsing playfully, while posing for candids in some of their favorite shops, they had a great time. It didn't take long before another foodie stop was needed. Our house was calling. Everybody has their favorite place to eat, and our house is Maggie and Jake's. Well, not our house, but R HOUSE. Specifically, a BMORE BRD chicken sandwich from BRD's was calling our names, especially Jake's. With our bellies full, more plants and succulents were calling our name from B.Willow house. This is where Jake get's his inspiration. We understand why. It's a beautiful space.
After a full day of charm, we headed home, but Jake thought that some shots during sunset shouldn't be missed. He had a favorite spot of his that he goes for walks, and finds plants for his terrariums, like moss and such. We almost didn't go, but so glad we did. Those were some of the most romantic photographs of the day.
It came after weeks of nail biting anticipation...will they, won't they....what are they waiting for....why haven't they just done it already? But they did finally ask us to take their engagement pictures. So proud of both these kids as they make a place for their new family, and become a couple for a lifetime. Not to mention he's our son, and she's our future daughter-in-law. We love you, Jake and Maggie. We see so many aspects of your relationship that we wish we had when we first got married. Heck even 5 years into marriage, we wish we had what we see in the two of you. God has answered the prayers of your parents in the two of you finding one another.
