Today Atticus and Violet spent part of the afternoon at Soar In The Saddle, http://www.soarinthesaddle.org practicing their rodeo skills on a goat named Billy. Around they went, trying as they may to lasso the gentleman of a goat. Billy playfully ran just in and out of range. At the end of their session, it became clear that they weren't the only ones having fun, Billy was playing this game of cat and mouse just as equally.
Charlene, the patient steward of the animals on her farm, holds these afternoon classes for a variety of students with different levels of horsemanship and rodeo skills alike. She teaches children and teens what life in the big city could never do - the magic of a shiny coat and a brushed mane with a glimmer of hope in the eye of an old retired horse.
Allison and I enjoy these sessions just as much as the children, being on a farm and being so close to such beautiful horses and of course a goat named Billy. It is a great escape from our day to day. There are so many pictures just waiting to be captured.
